Basic Book Binding: Creative Field Journals

30.00

Tuesday, June 12
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Level 1, Columbia Arts Building

Journal, album, diary, notebook - whatever you want to call it - you’re gonna make one! In this evening class, you will build and bind your own creative field journal that you can continue to elaborate on over time. All the materials will be provided for you, but feel free to bring paper or cardboard items that you’d like to add to your journal.

The purpose of this workshop is not only to create a finished piece of art, but to enjoy the process of creation. With a focus on reusable and recycled materials, there is an emphasis on the fact that art is everywhere and for everyone. By highlighting the beauty in common items and pointing out different uses for what many would call trash we open up a world not only of imagination but conservation, also.

Younger students will be doing this activity during this week’s daytime CAB Lab sessions - this is the grownup version! Adults and teens are welcome for this workshop. Craft beer (for adults, obviously) and snacks will be served upstairs at the CAB Cafe, so feel free to bring your refreshments with you and enjoy an evening being creative!

About Your Artisan Instructor: Celia Rose -

just one of her names, but she smells the same

she feels that nothing is new, there are only differing perspectives that continue to develop along with the movement that was set into place long ago

she finds that expressing herself through dance or paint is as natural as breathing and dreaming, and just as necessary

this artist, forged in the red dirt of Oklahoma and seasoned in the hills of Tennessee, currently lives with and learns from the spirits in Mexico

her creations are the result of what she learns from precious ancient tales and the treasures she finds abandoned in alleyways

nothing is without meaning, you must simply feel for it
