When we purchased the Columbia Arts Building just a few months ago we really had no idea what the reception would be. Our thinking was " build it and they will come" . What we could not have known is that y'all were already here : Our city is packed to the gills will folks who eat, sleep, and breath art. We are surrounded by crafters, thinkers, writers, painters, musicians, teachers, knitters, dreamers, and artists of all ages. You cannot imagine the warm feeling that washed over our family upon learning that we had moved into such a supportive community. Our idea is a simple one : Art for everyone...eccentric artist? welcome . crotchety grandpa? you belong here. Girl Boss working 60 hours a week? we have something for you. and your wild kids? yep, we will have a class for them. All are welcome.
We are overwhelmed with the support you have given us- Our Beginner Weaving class and Beginner Photography Workshop only have about 3 open spaces left in each- wow! With each space purchased you are shopping local as well as supporting a local artist in a very real and direct way. You will be hanging at our place for at least 3 hours during these classes, learning, chatting, snacking, and becoming part of our weird little world here at CAB. And weird is GOOD. If you intend to get in on one of these classes, hop to it or you may miss your shot!
We plan to open the Retail Division at 10AM on January 21st and are excited to meet you! Now, we still have another 11,000 sqft to finish up, but its a start and we could not stand to wait till the whole building is finished. I suppose we will have a big grand opening with music and the whole deal when the weather turns and renovations are complete. That being said we are most excited to meet you all, the ones who found us first.
Thats all for now. New to the newsletter game, so maybe its too wordy, maybe too intense, but maybe you will like us anyway. This is our community. Be a part of the movement.
